Please be advised that responsibility for Canada’s Energy Efficiency Regulations is transitioning from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
This administrative change took effect on July 30, 2026.
How this impacts the current consultation period:
The proposed Regulations Amending the Energy Efficiency Regulations, 2016 (Amendment 19) were published in the Canada Gazette, Part I on June 20, 2026, for a 70-day public comment period ending on August 29, 2026. During this transition to ECCC, please note the following:
No Action Required for Past Submissions: Any comments already submitted regarding the proposed Amendment 19 will be safely transferred to ECCC for analysis. You do not need to resubmit your feedback.
Online Portal Submissions: The online comment system on the Canada Gazette, Part I website remains fully operational. Please continue to submit comments through the portal as normal until the comment period closes on August 29, 2026.
