Get step-by-step guidance on using CBSA’s CARM Client Portal to register, update, or authorize access to your import-export account. This includes setting up a Business Number (BN9), creating or managing your Import-Export (RM) account, and securely assigning permissions to other users.

Here’s a simplified guide for setting up and managing a Canadian import-export account through CBSA:

  1. Register a Business Number (BN9): If you’re new to Canadian imports/exports, get a BN9 through the Canada Revenue Agency.
  2. Set Up or Manage Your Import-Export (RM) Account: Access the CARM Client Portal to create or modify your import-export account.
  3. Authorize Delegates: In CARM, add employees or third parties to manage your account securely.
  4. Authorize ARGO as your Customs Broker broker (a Project management program) to create and submit your transactions to CBSA,
    do releases and final accounting  via CARM portal submitting  CADs (CAD is Commercial Accounting Document).
