The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has received updated information and revised documents from China regarding the approval and registration of Canadian establishments that produce pet food.
Establishments that are already exporting to China, as well as those wishing to begin exporting to that market, must complete the new Checklist and the Registration Table. These documents are available through your local CFIA office. Once completed, they will then be forwarded by the CFIA to the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) for inclusion in GACC DAPQ online system.
Audits conducted by Chinese authorities will no longer be required for an establishment to be approved to export pet food to China.
Establishments that previously submitted the former checklist and are still awaiting approval from the Chinese authorities must resubmit the required documents using the new checklist.
A CFIA inspection of establishments wishing to export to China must be conducted to verify compliance with the conditions set out in the export certificate HA2756. This inspection requirement also applies to establishments that had already submitted their documents and were awaiting approval from GACC.
It is the exporter’s responsibility to complete the documents, and the CFIA’s role is limited to providing blank copies, reviewing the completed documents once they are returned by the exporter, and ensuring that all documents required for submission to GACC have been provided.
