PARS, Cargo Status and Cross-Border Shipment Timing
PARS is a pre-arrival release process used for commercial highway shipments entering Canada. It should not be treated as a general tracking term for every ocean, air or courier shipment.
For truck freight, importers and carriers may need to coordinate the cargo control number, commercial invoice, product information, importer details and regulated-goods documents before arrival. Argo provides PARS monitoring and cargo-status checks to help determine whether release information has been submitted and whether follow-up is required.
The distinction is especially useful in Metro Vancouver, where freight may transfer between marine terminals, warehouses, rail and highway networks before reaching the final consignee.
U.S.-Bound Shipments and Prior Notice
CBSA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection are separate agencies. A shipment involved in Canada-U.S. trade can have requirements on both sides of the border.
Canadian customs brokerage support should not be confused with U.S. customs clearance. Exporters moving goods from British Columbia into the United States should confirm the requirements that apply to the U.S. side of the transaction separately.
