To obtain an RPP (Release Prior to Payment) surety bond for Canada Customs, importers must first register with the CARM Client Portal. Once registered, you can choose a surety company or work with a customs broker authorized to issue Canada Customs bonds, and complete the application process to secure your bond.
You’ll need to determine the required bond amount, which is based on your import volume and the duties owed. Once issued, the bond must be uploaded to your CARM account to enable Release Prior to Payment privileges.
